Wednesday Night Tidbits

CQPolitics continues its look at Republican-held Senate seats with the nine "Republican Favored" seats. The nine are Alabama - Sessions (potential strong challenge in Ron Sparks), Georgia - Chambliss (unintimidating approval), New Mexico - Domenici (role in Attorney Purge scandal led to plummeting approval and might retire), Oklahoma - Inhofe (lousy approval), Oregon - Smith (only statewide Republican in a blue state), South Carolina - Graham (very interesting and unexpected inclusion), Tennessee - Alexander (unintimidating approval), Texas - Cornyn (lousy approval), and Virginia - Warner (likely retirement). If one is going to include Georgia and South Carolina in this category, I don't see why Kentucky or Nebraska wouldn't make the cut (or even Idaho or Alaska), but to each his own.

Minnesota: Back in February, State Representative John Lesch said he was considering a Senate bid. MN Publius picked up on the fact that Lesch is one of the recent Al Franken endorsements - so I suppose we can take that as a sign Lesch is done considering a Senate bid for himself.

Nebraska: UNO Dems posits that state AG Jon Bruning running as the "anti-Hagel" in a race that Hagel might not even run in could spell electoral defeat for Bruning.
